Hit the Roanoke River near Weldon, NC Saturday for some striped bass pre-spawn action with my fishing buds. The action was steady all morning but slowed considerable in the afternoon. Overall, we landed about 30 bass, and got our limit of 18-22 inch keepers. No big girls over 27 inches but great fun and and an awesome fishing trip!
Most were this size but still great fun.
Here's Craig with a nice stogey and a fish.
Erich also landed some nice ones. Everything from 22 to 27 inches had to be released.
Me with another decent striper.
Jonesey with another tugger.
The Roanoke River is suprisingly narrow.
Heres the catch on my garage floor.
Couldn't pass up a photo opportunity like this!
Great fshing trip if you like striped bass, although the sizes were a bit small this year.

That sign used to be at Aqualand in the early 70's. They sure fixed it up nice..
The fish hanging from it was a nice add on.
Nice work guys..

Yea. It was a bit intimidating standing under that fish. Glad they had it chained tight!
My stogie was a Montecristo, Serie C I think..... but not sure. Just grabed it from the humidor and stuck it in a tube for the trip. I typicallly order 5 packs and samplers from JR.com, but Montecristo is one of my favorite sticks. Cant beat a Montecristo White No. 2!
