Chesapeake C&R Stripers! 4/6

I got there about 6am and waited on the beach until I had a little bit of light. Think I had my lines in around 7. I used bloodworms on 6/0 circle hooks. There was a steady North wind, and it was COLD.

Things started slow for me but I saw a couple other anglers catch small fish. Around 8 I started getting bites and picked up a couple small stripers, then a very fat 30". It was the only one I measured all day...for some reason it looks way smaller in this pic?

The park police were active, I got checked twice in the morning. Then the Sandy Pt ducks came by and checked my cooler. They charged me with possession of illegal snacks and fined me half a bag of Fritos tongue

I expected more people to show up but the beach never really got crowded. I don't think there were more than 5 or 6 fishermen all day. It was nice.

Over the next 2-3 hours I caught a few more small stripers, and then a little before noon I picked up another nice one! It was longer than the 30 incher but not nearly as fat.

So in the next hour I just had one bite. It was a tiny little "tap tap" and then nothing. So I picked up the rod and then it took off. That turned out to be this guy! Didn't measure but it was pretty long and very fat. Easily the biggest of the day.

That was my last bite. I left shortly before 2pm. Total was 9 stripers. 6 in the 15-20" range, and the 3 bigger ones. It was a great day smile
