Potomac River, 3-31-12

Today, we went bass fishing. Actually, although Mo has caught LMB before, he had never gone "bass fishing". So Mike and I obliged.

We out in at Pohick and decided to hit the south shore of the cove. Sure enough, Mike gets hit and takes the skunk off the boat.

But the NE wind was making it difficult for us to hold position so we made a move. I always like the flats in the early spring so off across the mighty Potomac we went.

It did not take Mike long to get on the board....

....as he started to school us on his chatterbait!

Mo was throwing a weighted fluke and was able to score his 1st targeted LMB!!

And then.....Mike proceeded to take us to school in a big way! He had a HOT hand for sure!!!

This one with a great net assist from Mo!

And even a YP!

Although I was throwing soft plastic most of the day, occasionally I would switch up. this time, under advisement, I used a spinnerbait to get this guy!

And then Mike continued his lesson....

And then Mo got hot using one of Mike's chatterbaits!

Now it was getting ridiculous....

Mo continued to catch 'em....

.....including this nice one to end the day!

These boys caught some chunky fish...would have done quite well in a tourney!

Although it was a little chilly when the wind and clouds were around, it was comfortable most of the time. We did get some sun at times and that was welcomed.

Great day on the water with Mo and Mike!!!

From all the reports I've been reading, the Potomac has been awesome this year and a chatterbait is definitely something you want to have in your tackle box.

Between Pohick and Fletchers it looks like you had a really good weekend. Great report!
