5-8-08, Lake Anna fishing report

A few months back, George Lenard (owner of Specialized Baits) asked me if I wanted to join him to fish Lake Anna with Chris McCotter. There was not hesitating and we settled on going out on May 8...today!

We arrived (in the rain)  at High point Marina at 0630 and by 0700 we were fishing for stripers. Unfortunately, the stripers would not cooperate although we threw everything at them for over 2 hours! After the brief disappointment, we decided to go bass fishing!

It rained on and off for most of the morning but it did not slow us down any because it was always a light rain.

Chris got on the board 1st with a sub legal bass but the skunk was off. I then latched on to one that went in the live well. However, my next tow bass (including a very nice one) spit the hook! I could not believe that I let these two fish do this to me. The bigger one came out of the water and behaved like a smallie…..but he got me!

George then hooked into a nice one…..

…and then it was my turn…..

…..but this is Chris’ lake so he was not going to be outdone……

We ended up catching 6 keepers…..

…with a total of 10 or 11 bass.

Oh…Chris also caught a striper while bass fishing…..he was 19”  which is an inch too short to keep!

Another excellent day on the water!
