New Boat!

So yesterday I drove down to Newport News to buy a boat!  I got a 14' fiberglass jon boat.  It is really wide and deep, but I forget the measurements.

Here is the boat from the back.  The tan seat is in perfect position for running a outboard with a tiller.  That green seat is for upfront, but I plan on getting what they call a pro boat seat for up there which is like what the bass boats have.  On the rite is a padded top cooler.  On the left is the padded top livewell.  The livewell now does not circulate so I am going to have to get a new setup for inside of it.  you can also see the bimini top which I am goin to remove.

Re: New Boat!

My plans are for the boat:

-Rewire the trailer lights, which I am actually doing today
-get a 20hp-30hp outboard used (let me know if you ever hear of someone selling one)
-minn kota bow mount trolling motor, either  a 45lb or a 55lb thrust, not really sure yet
-wire a swtich board that the lights and livewell run off of
-new livewell setup
-hatch lights
-I am debating on taking the cooler out and putting a rod locker on that side
-i want to either extend the front deck, with hatches for plano boxes or just put in some storage space for them
-get all the necetties for on a boat, like rope, anchor, fire extinguisher, etc.

Can't wait to to see what it's gonna look like after you are done with your customizations. I bet it's gonna be really nice. Are you keeping the camo color or repainting it? Did the previous owner really name it "fowl mouth"?

Yeah he did name it that haha, he is a big duck hunter.

The camo looks nice I think, but I kind of want to make it a real color as I will be using it for fishing not hunting.  It just hasn't clicked in my head what color I would like to paint it.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

Re: New Boat!

Nice lookin rig. When I bought a jon boat several years ago, I found that working on it and customizing it was as much fun as fishing from it. Hope you have fun doing both.

I agree with you completely!  I have been building boats since a kid and I love it and then I got a yak and customizing it was the best part (still got more to do but now I have a boat to put money into!
