I'm headed to this area tomorrow evening for the weekend with friends. We're staying at a house on the bay w/ a small beach access directly next to Holts Landing State Park. Anyone have any intel for fishing that area ..... I'm bringing my light tackle spinning rod and a couple 8 wt fly rods.
Thanks.

The inlet is absolutely on fire right now. I'm talking epic status. It's killing me to be missing it.
Throw swim shads on the incoming tide, but you will need heavier gear.

As far as boating I couldn't really tell you, I do all my fishing from shore over there. For shore fishing, the rocks can be treacherous depending on where you're fishing. It's best to stay off the jetty unless you have korkers. There's plenty of parking and alot of room to fish along the rails, but from what I hear the last couple days have been verrry crowded. I'd recommend a 7-9' spinning rod and 30-40lb braid, the stripers being caught right now are very nice size.
Should also be plenty of flounder in shallower areas in the IR Bay, and light tackle would be great for that.
You're lucky to be headed up there right now. Sure wish I was! Good luck!

Day late a apparently some nice size striper short. Didn't get on the fishing until Saturday morning ..... the striper frenzy decided to skip out Thursday/Friday. We caught 8 smallish bluefish so not a total loss. Lesson learned .... don't wait for your buddy to get in town when the fish are there ..... go get em while you can.

Yeah I heard the striper bite just about died over the weekend. Was it still really crowded?

It was packed from land on the north side and boats stacked and drifting ..... organized chaos on the water.
