Last several trips has shown a major drop in catching big cats.. in fact any quantity of cats..
At first I considered it was me not dialed in yet.. but after talking to no less than 6 other cat fisherman we all faired the same over the last three weeks.
Tide and massive amounts of water I consider to be the main reason why the fish are turned off.
Last Monday I got a 25lb female that had spawned out.. VERY ODD
This is not normal as the water temps should be above 70 before they even start..
Perhaps all the science and all the research is wrong..
What if they spawned on the big slug of water that never really left due to high southernly winds holding them back.. Full moon in the day time also..and muddy water on the flats....3 out of 4 conditions met...
Is 10 degrees less water temp that much of a factor in spawning OR is opportunity to spawn more important..????
What do you think?

I think....that I need a good white perch trip to shake me out of these dull drums.
Good thing my company has me traveling once in a while to a sunny and warm destination.
This year, we had a triple slug of water. One was very early which was really good, the other one was right in thr befgimning of the run....not so good but we have recovered before. But then we had a third which has screwed things up. This has been a weird year for lots of fisheries....although CCNPP did rather well.
As far as the blues go....no clue.

OK... it's a nice evening. You have the soft lighting, the right music and a friend that's in the mood. Do you really need a fire in the fireplace?

Osprey I would say go for it as it could heat things up..
Wait would this be a friend with benifits? I digress..
CORRECTION: So your saying it could be so..
Well today the cats all where spawned out. So it happened fire or not..
Could be the reason the feed bag is back on..

That is a very good link.
The PRFC has decided to study the issue more. A proposal for a 32 inch limit of two fish was submitted. My thoughts to build a trophy fishery may be ignored. But for now the PRFC sees them as a major pest.
I am hoping they embrace them since they can not control them.
BTW they are biting at night now..really good.

I did not realize that bluegills were not a native fish to this area.

Recent Tidal Fish posting - "Catfish Heaven." Sounds like it may have been in your wheelhouse.

In golf, bad holes come in threes. If you have a fourth bad hole it doesn't violate the rule, it's the start of the next three hole set.
