Our April guest speaker will be fishing Guide/Conservationist Captain Dennis Fleming of Fishamajig Guide Service. Dennis was scheduled to speak at our January meeting, but the weather forced cancellation. Luckily Capt. Fleming was able to re-schedule and we look forward to his talk which will cover Maine smallmouth fishing, Chesapeake Bay striped bass, various fishing hotspots, techniques and tips, as well as the politics of fisheries management.
Capt. Fleming has been fishing in the Washington metropolitan region since 1972 for every species that swims. He is currently a light tackle fishing guide on the Chesapeake Bay based out of Solomons/Point Lookout. He is an avid smallmouth fisherman who has fished most eastern U.S. rivers, as well numerous waters in Ontario, the Boundary Waters, and Maine. He is also an avid pan fisherman, spending many hours each spring in pursuit of yellow perch and crappies.
Capt. Fleming is an avid conservationist. He is the President of the Mason Springs Conservancy, former President of Coastal Conservation Association Southern Maryland, and was appointed by Gov. O'Malley to the Potomac River Fisheries Commission. By day he is the Environmental Resources Manager for Charles County Government and an expert on waste management and recycling programs. Don’t miss this entertaining and well-informed speaker.
Club meetings are open to the public.
