This was a tough trip for me......no fish! But it was a work related outing and the other guys caught several bass so they were happy.
We went out on 2 drift boats for some fly basin'. Only problem was the guys in the other boat used conventional tackle. They caught 12......my partner caught 2. I got the Peppe Lepew.
I only had a few short hits.
Interestingly, we saw more bass near the dock than we saw in the 3 hours we were out there. I thought of the bank beaters when I saw several 4-5 pounders swim by along wih some of their smaller buddies.
The lake is natural and clear as can be.
Beautiful day to be fishing.......

Sounds like a cool place. Thanks for the report.

Shingle Creek feeds this lake.
I wish I had done more research and had more time to sneak around.....no fishing allowed unless through the Ritz or Marriott. But.....I did see some access areas that might be worth a look later today.
Snakes and gators are around too.

I'll be fishing Mosquito Lagoon April 25th .......... anyone have experience there?

Houli- who are you fishing with?
I fished there 2 years ago but it was blowing a gale.......made it tough but it is a great place to fish.

I'm heading out with Capt Michael Bales. Found him online and talked to him over the phone .... seemed like a real good guy.

Houli,
I am also a free diving spear-fishing guy. I lost my lung capacity by smoking 15 years heavily. Your Avatar makes me get into free-diving shape. Thanks for the motivation.
p.s.
I heard there is a place in NC for Free-Diving SpearFishing near the shore. I am going to try the place this year.

Joe - spear fishing trip was on my honeymoon a couple years back in Eleuthera, Bahamas ......... what a great experience! One of the best fishing days of my life: I called it "fishing 4 ways"
6:00am - Noon .... offshore trolling (only caught cuda but oh well)
Noon - 2:00pm .... Spear fish the shallow reefs for lobster and grouper (1 monster lobster landed)
2:00 - 4:00 pm .... bottom fish for strawberry grouper and porgy (landed each)
sunset ................ shore/jetty fish from vacation house with a nice cigar and gin & tonic (caught nice size grouper)
Dinner ...... lobster, grouper, porgy

Long way to go to catch skunks, there's a vicious rumor going around that you can do that in your own back yard.
