At 1 pm.today, we went out with Capt. Lee Egan of Sea Horse Fishing Adventures on his 46' Markley. This is something I really enjoy doing when I am in South Florida. As a matter of fact, I now keep a few rods down here so I don't have to travel with them.
We had a full crew (11) along with Matt (Skippy) the mate and Harry the other crew member. My nephew Jorge joined me as well as my Florida fishing buddies, Joe and Mike (and his son).
Lee had warned us that the water was still kinda cold but we did not care as it was a spectacular day. Not too long into the fishing, I hooked up with a decent porgie. BTW, we had it for an appetizers just a few minutes ago......delicious!
Like Lee said the fishing was slow but we managed to catch more porgie, a banded rudder fish (also eaten as an appetizer), some trigger fish, some grunts, parrot fish, a toro and some slimy wine fish.
Not everyone caught fish but everyone had a great time since more than half the crew knew each other.....
The style of fishing is drifting a Carolina rigged salted sardine but when you hook up, the possibility of catching an assortment of fish is endless.
I will be back in April......
Pictures will be up when I come back.

Ernie -
Nice report -
I t reminds me of our conversation a few months ago about the three phases of a fishing career - The third phase.
Nice.
It was a windy one here today - and a lot cooler - not a day to be on water.
See ya soon.

The 3rd phase......you are correct. Afterwards some of the crew met up with my uncle, his wife and my mom for some authentic paella. Great memories!

Some of the ugly ones taste the best!
That camo one is an ornamental and cannot be kept even though it is good tasting. The parrot fish (brightest colors) is poisonous I think. The trigger fish is very tasty as were a few others.
I would love to have Thai and Andrew (resident FISH EXPERTS) on board as we bring these guys up!

That's the lure (no pun intended) of going out with Capt. Lee. It's relatively inexpensive and ya never know what you are going to catch. They have been surprised a few times......it's a good time.
