Nice first time bass fishing

Well we had a great day today at Ashburn. Fished the Pavilion lake way back in the corner from about 8:30am. Moved on to Beech lake at about 2pm via the pub.

Got 17 between us, all of them no bigger than a pound but lots of fun, and not bad for a first try.

Got one with the fly rod! ( bad quality as TG had the camera on movie)

All in all, it was a great day.

I noticed moving seems to work well. We caught stuff every time we moved to a new spot. Seems like the word gets around after youve caught a few and the know not to eat the fake fish thing.

I think its safe to say we are hooked ( pardon the pun) so if you see a couple of English guys, say hi.

Cheers

Dave

Glad you had a good time. Just be careful this hobie can get expensive. Rods, reels, tackle, I see a new bass boat in your future. wink

actually, compared to golf for instance, it seems quite cheap. once you have a rod and reel and some lures there doesnt seem an awful lot to spend money on, unless you want to.

Yeah, thought it was going to open up but it passed over instead.

18 in an hour! Did you move a lot? Our spots seemed to dry up quickly but if we moved we got some more bites.

I had an awesome time. Was my 3rd time fishing ever in my life the other 2 times were trout fishing and caught nadda. One thing is for sure I will be back and often

18 in an hour Curley ? What were you using for bait ? Dave was using a little fake minnow for most of his catches , need to go and buy a few of them as my fake worm , coupled with my lack of skill didnt seem to make a good combination

Re: Nice first time bass fishing

Yesterday was a great day to be outside and a great day to be fishing. I was fortunate enough to land 20 of 22 bass bites from the Pavilion Lake. All of this was done in a little over 2 hours, all on soft plastics, and all during the middle of the day. You can't beat a suntan and tight lines!

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

Ya, Saturday I was  at cedar and beech with 10-20 other people.  We started at Cedar but the algae was horrible. Then we moved to Beech and we started catchin fish and the algae wasnt bad.  I ended up with nine and a couple of them got between 1 and 2.  Fun Time!
