I always go to Craigslist to see what comparables are selling for. I then evaluate whether it is in excellent, good, average, or poor condition (like a car) to help set my price point. You could find a lot of google searched the price for that set as well.

Thanks Patrick...I did check CL. I was wondering if I should split some of the pieces (stands and cymbals) out or just offer a package.

Ernie,
I generally go to eBay for comparable stuff. As an example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Pearl-Masters-MMX-D … 3cb39b0a92
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/Pearl-Drum-Set-/270 … 3f05f6042b
When you have done a search (Pearl Drum Set), you can also look just at completed listings (sold or expired).
On the left of the eBay page is an option to display only completed sales which is probably the best way to see what things actually sell for. This listing shows what sold (green) as well as what didn't sell (price in red).

Good luck,
Doug

Thanks Doug...I have been selling/buying on eBay since Oct. 1998. There are unknowns for sure.
One of the links you provided is very helpful as this is a full set (5 toms) and I couldn't find many like that.
Now I have to figure out if the wood is walnut or poplar etc etc.

I didn't know you played the drums.

I know 5-6 chords on the guitar, I took 3 years of piano while in my 40's, I was told to lip sing when I was in the 8th grade choir and I can't play a lick on the drums. Unfortunately, I don't have the gift of music....but I do enjoy listening to it.
This set belongs to my middle son and is currently "warehoused" in our basement. He does not want to keep them.
I found another site that specializes in music instrument sales that will be helpful in the pricing.
