Took my SINK down to GC for the first time. I wade fish there often but not from a yak. Encountered a guy hauling rocks from the creek while I was hauling my yak down to the launch, guess he must be building his patio or something...loading a huge plastic trash bin full onto his BMW X5. Didn't know the legality of harvesting rocks from parks so I didn't say anything. Doesn't seem right though, if everyone start doing this there won't be any natural parks left...Don't know how long he's been at it but I think he went back down the trail to get some more.
Anyhow, the water in the creek was a bit higher but more turbid than a couple of weeks ago. Saw a guy paddling back upstream on a canoe, mentioned he didn't have any luck with his fly rod. Fished the creek while paddling down to the main branch but did not have any bite. Got down to the mouth of the creek and looked like there were a group of 30+ people about to launch from the golf club dock. I high tailed out of there quick and head up river. The river water was much clearer than the creek, I can see 3-4' down. Anyway, fish out of the river the rest of the time I was there. Got 3-4 basses and about the same number of blue gills, lost a couple of smallies when they were doing their acrobatics. Didn't realize how high they jump until I'm are sitting in a yak at water level, a good 2-3ft at times. Did see a good sized ~20" fish cruising right under my yak while I was snacking on a sandwich, tried to throw a crank past him after he passed but didn't catch his interest.
