I now know where all the fish hang out at Cedar......

I got my fish/depth finder installed in the yellow yak so I spent a couple of hours paddling around and drifting over suspect areas. I was surprised by some of the depths where I thought it was shallower. It is 6.5' right behind my house (in the middle).

It is 13.5 feet on the west side of the spillway.

It is 9-10' in many places that you would not think would be that deep.

It is shallow on the western cove but who didn't know that.

The "lure eater" on the north side is NASTY. It goes from 9' to 6'5' quickly and it is pointy and jaggedy! I saw many lures stuck down there...might consider snorkling to retrieve and resell.

The only bad thing is that I marked less fish than I thought I would....I will not post exact spots but feel free to chat when we are out there....

We know where the leaks are and they have been "tamed" for now with some silicone. That will eventually give way but I have some yellow plastic welding rod that I'll use to repair later. All I need now is a heat gun of some type. I have one that I used to use for replacing hockey blades but I don't think that will do it.

Ernie,

Great to hear you have your depth finder working and it sounds like you are getting a great reading... which is awesome and not always the case for a through hull install.

You can use just about any heat gun and I have a bunch of plastic from my boat that I have left over from doing the rod pod install. It's orange, but you're welcome to it if need be. There are lots of articles out there for repairing kayak hulls, but the method we used for repairing my last kayak was to heat up the area and the new plastic and sort of fold it together with needle nose pliers to plug the hole area, then we took more and made sort of a over pad and an inner pad. This repair was in the keel and that thing was better than new with a reinforced keel. It looked like crap because I ran out of the matching green plastic, but I didn't really care. It was worth it not to think about it when I was paddling from the lighthouse to the bay bridge in the middle of March...

We should try to get some guys from the group together and do a float sometime soon. Maybe chase snakeheads in Leesylvania state park?

I have a heat gun but not sure if it will get things hot enough....I will try it. The problem with my leaks is that they are are the seam at the scuppers. Not a good place but I have a call in to the OK guys and he may have some suggestions.

I'm up for a snakehead hunt! Pohick Bay might be another target and a little closer...

Awesome, Thai. Appreciate the offer. Is that a place we could hit after work during the week?
