Need a Yak!

I can't take it anymore. I need to get a kayak. I welcome all advice. I would prefer used simply for the reduced cost. Please include any specifications I should consider. Thanks!

Re: Need a Yak!

I am sure Andrew will chime in with his advice for you to get a Hobbie....it will be good advice.

Think about where you are going to use it.

Larger (12-15') if for lakes and open waters.

Smaller (10-13") for running rivers.

A 12 footer is perfect in my book (mine are 13).

SOT is a must also....

Scan Craigslist...many people buy them and don't use them.

Re: Need a Yak!

SOT is a must in my book. Much easier to just fish from. More room to put stuff and just nice to be able to move your legs around.

I do love hobies BUT there are some very nice kayaks out there. Simon would know more about this than I. How much are you looking to spend? This would give us an idea of what kayaks you should be looking for.

www.kayakbassfishing.com is a site that Simon and I frequent with our kayaking questions.

Re: Need a Yak!

Since I am buying used, I would like to keep it under $500.

I found this website that lists a lot of kayaks and their "new" price... http://www.paddling.net/buyersguide/kayakFish.html

I was thinking 10-12 feet and would need to consider transport on a car.
