3-26-10, Sunset Lakes, Miramar FL

The original plan called for Joe Shallcross and I to rent a small boat and fish the Everglades at Flamingo Holiday Park.

I left Singer Island at 0520 as it was close to an 80 mile drive. It rained the whole way down and the forecast did not look good. Joe decided it would be best to fish Sunset Lakes in his 10' bass buggy since he lives right on the lake.

God smiled on us today because the rain stopped and we were able to fish from 0730 until lunch time when the high winds moved in.

These lakes are manmade and deep but Joe knows all of the nooks and cranies and were were able to hook almost 50 bass....landing 30+.

It was an enjoyable morning to say the least.

Most fish were caught on wacky rigs but we caught a few on spinner baits, flukes and on Joe's home made creations.

The biggest fish was a spawned out female that was close to 4 pounds.

Pictures at 11! .

Early morning deskunker!

Quality fish in this lake and we were the only ones fishing on a Friday!

Joe told me I would not catch one with this color....

Please inspect this lure...it has been altered a bit by Joe (does this to many lures).

Another quality fish!

Bait catchers....

These man made lakes get to 50 feet in the middle. Joe has a depth finder and we never marked any fish in real deep water. But....anything at 20 feet and under was fair game.
