It's going to be raining so it looks like I get to go to one more show!
Online
I got an email via TPFR about volunteering. I'll be at the fly tying section teaching how to make a fly. I'll have a dragonfly on my shirt or hat so be sure to introduce yourself.
Offline
Rob- I will look you up for sure. I don't tie flies (but boy, I have bought my share) so I din't volunteer. That's a great show to go to if one likes fly fishing...has it all.
Last year, I won Capt. Mike Starrett's bass trip in a raffle. I will try to duplicate that again this year.

Curly mentioned again in a fly fishing thread. If word gets out it could foul his reputation.

Just got back from the show....glad I went. The highlight was getting a 1/2 lesson fly casting lesson from Denis Fay. He is an incredible caster who owns more fly rods than I own total rods! He knows all of the casts by name...there are many! What I was interested in was making a fly cast to land under a dock. I made a few like this when Mo and I fished with Chris Newsome but I got lucky with those 'cause I really did not know the proper technique. Denis showed me how to do it right.....and I used a bamboo fly rod to boot (I think it sells for close to $1K!).
A few minutes ago, I was practicing my cast out back when Curly pulled up across the lake to show me a nice fish. At 1st, I thought it was a bass and was not happy that he kept it. However, he then yelled that it was a close to 2lb. crappie...it was NICE!
Also, I talked to a few of the guides, Capt. Mike being one of them. I am fishing with him on August 16 and maybe sooner if I win his trip again.
This show is big. it's held in the indoor track arena at Georgetown Prep HS. Lots of folks and lots of interesting displays.
Of course, I entered every raffle they had!

Do Cubans normally wear kilts?

Oh no....not the kilt! Cubans run the other way from those things!
I hope I won the John Page Williams trip to the Severn.

Had a good time on Saturday and saw a lot of old friends in the business.
The tying table was rather slow and with limited material and bottom line tools did not make it easier. However, there was one kid who tied about 4-5 different patterns. I think his dad was read to go buy him a vise from one of the vendors.
