I will have a table at this event (under Pacemakerfishing) so if you have something to sell, bring it on by. My only request is a small donation from your proceeds to help cover the table fees (if any).

If anyone wants some old gear or baits sold, let the Broad Run High School Fishing Club know.  We'll sell them for you for 20% of what it's sold for.

If you are interested, e-mail me -   john.t.hill@gmx.us

This is a great way of getting rid of some gear and also helping out the fishing club.....just mark the price with your name on it.

Re: New Horizon Bass Anglers Flea Market- February 13, 2010!!

This is STILL on!!

I hope everyone comes out to support the club. The reason?

According to Charlie, "Remember that this event is staged specifically to make money to fund the Kid's Fishing Derbies and other youth activities. This amount (of money taken in) will fund the youth activities very nicely...."

As well, the Broad Run HS Fishing Club will be selling tackle, birdhouses and will hold a raffle foer some nice stuff so they can raise funds.

Come on out....you need to anyway!

I'm going to try real hard to get there. I'm going stir crazy being stuck in the house, but I might be too stiff to get in the car. I thought I was sore after the 1st round, but that was just practice

We just got back from it.  Looked to me like it opened at 8 AM like some of the postings said, although Dan is right the website lists it at 9 AM.

Saw 2 chronarch 100s for $100 each.  Fended off a lust to buy one, went back to the table later, and they were both gone.

Re: New Horizon Bass Anglers Flea Market- February 13, 2010!!

It opened before 8 AM and closed down just after 1 :30 PM.....great show for a 1st time show.

I was able to sell some trolling stuff that never gets used. I also sold a tackle bag that created a bidding war among three BRHS Fishing Club members. The bad sat there untouched until I picked it up to reprice it. Only then did I realize it was also a back back. That is when the bidding war started! The club picked up almost $40 in commissions from my sales. They were also rewarded by several very nice donations including three casting rods and a trolling motor.

I only bought flies and lots of raffle tickes from the BRHS and CNU clubs. I was rewarded by winning the 7' Gator Glass custom rod from BRHS. It was built by Catoctin Creek Custom Rods. It's a beast (12-25 lb, 3/8-1 1/2 oz) but very nice (spiral wrapped too)!

For me, a well spent Saturday!

That explains why my phone didn't ring. Now you need a new reel and line.

Re: New Horizon Bass Anglers Flea Market- February 13, 2010!!

This just in from Charlie Taylor:

Well, our first annual NHBA Flea Market is over.  While it was not the outstanding success I was picturing, Mother Nature had a lot to do with that.

In spite of the snowstorms and the snow and ice on the roads, we had all but four committed vendors show up. The general public showed up but not in the numbers desired.

The first order of business was to establish a parking detail. After considerable deliberation, the committee (Charlie) determined that Mark Light should be the Parking Guru. As other members showed up, Joe Donoghue, Carl Brown and Michael Finger pitched in to assist Mark.  While doing the most difficult job of the entire Flea Market operation, these men did an absolutely outstanding job. They deserve all the accolades we can bestow.

Next, let me commend the membership for showing up in force, prepared to help.  We had a grand total of 29 members show up at the Flea Market.  In addition, the members of the Broad Run High School Bass Club and Christopher Newport University Bass Fishing Club set up the tables, helped the vendors get their wares in and out of the hall and took down and stacked the tables after the event.  Their assistance was invaluable.

John Decker and his wife, Kristen, held court at the entrance, greeting the public and collecting the money. They were assisted by Rich Jannace.

At the close of the show, I checked with each of the vendors, regarding their thoughts on the show. Without exception, the vendors said that they would return next year.  This is the ultimate determination of success of a show.  If the vendors are happy, you have a good show.  While we did not quite reach our goal this year, we were very close.  With the word of mouth generated by the showing this year, we should be able to double or triple the gate next year and increase the number of vendors.

Once again, a big Thank You to all who showed up.

Good Fishin',
Charlie........

Re: New Horizon Bass Anglers Flea Market- February 13, 2010!!

I stopped by and picked up a couple of bird houses from the BRHSFC table as well as a couple crankbaits and plastics. I was going to get a few flies but I really didn't know what I was looking at. I think I'll dedicate this year to 1)fishing deep and  2) fly fishing

Did anyone see those green Bantam Shimano Curados? Those thing still sell for a good chunk of change on ebay, I wish I could have bought a few to flip.

Yeah, there were two separate vendors that had them, each with several curados.
