11-6/7/8-09, Palm Beach report

Blown out!

I am sitting here, at our good friend's condo on Singer Island, looking out the window at a near Gale blow, the seas are angry so we will try again tomorrow.

If I whet a line somewhere, I will report back.

Why do the NE winds always seem to follow me?

So head on over toward the airport and hit some of those ponds. Those peacocks don't know which direction the wind is blowing. Here's hoping for better conditions tomorrow.

No peacocks for us today but we did get a chance to do some bass fishing out of a 10' bass buggy owned by Mike's buddy who lives right on Sunset Lake.

The wind was blowing us all over the place but we managed 5 nice fish, all caught on senkos. Biggest fish (Mike's) was close to 4 pounds.

Day 2....blown out again. Winds sustained from the NNE at 30 and an 8-10' swell. Oh well....

But we fished a bit this morning near the bridge on some cool looking water.

Twelve year old Patrick Sullivan, using a spinning rod and a Gotcha plug caught two lizardfish (weird looking toothy criters) and a little yellow tail jack. Mike caught a Jack on a curly tail. Me? I strained a ton of water trying to catch a bluefish, redfish or snook but to no avail.

We did watch a local catch a dozen 1-3 pound blues on cut bait which he caught with his cast net.

It was still nice to whet a line.

Apparently, this wind is not going to let up while I am here so we will try some other spots on Sunday.

There are no Peacocks this far north.

Day 3....same story, relentness and ruthless winds.

We were invited to dinner at some friends who happen to live on a lake. Five of us fished for about an hour and a half and everyone caught fish.

Patrick only caught 2 but he stuck to the topwater bait. His buddy Sarah caught5 on a very weird looking lure. I wish I would have taken a picture of it.

Mike caught 5 as well and Joe (owner of the bass buggy from Friday) caught 9. I had the lucky hand and landed 17.

All of these fish looked the same. They were all between 3/4 of a pound to just shy of 2 pounds.

Lots of fun for sure!
