Bob and I were on the water shortly before 8a hoping the dreaded wind forecast would be off by a couple of hours. As we motored up, Bob said that we didn't set a goal. I said, "oh, what the heck, let's just catch 100!"

When we got up to our honey area, we saw a yak and another boat (way up) so we had the place to ourselves...for now.

By 8:06a, the skunk was off!

A few minutes later, Bob doubles up (1st of 3 or 4 doubles for him).

It was steady catching after that...

Bob's biggest, over 17"!

I think I had 3 doubles as well. Many times, we were both hooked up.

We kept looking up river at the one boat that was up there and wondered if he was stubborn or catching shad. This time, we didn't wonder too far from we were catching.

By 10:06a, we had 50 fish with me in the lead. As a matter of fact, I had a 5-10 fish lead for most of the day.

BTW, Bob has made a mess of my boat in the back. Blood and scales everywhere.  lol The front is nice and clean (except for cigar ashes) as I unhook most of my fish boat side.

An armada of boats came down and I had to tell tow of them to mind their manners and get away from us. They literally were drifting right to where Bob and I were casting. But once they heard those spoons hit the water, they scattered. No harm., no foul.

I try to teach proper etiquette  since lots of the boats have never played the game. When busy, we just line up the boats one in front of another. Just like Tom did.

Yep, his dad's famous red checkered shirt! lol

Some boats like to keep on the move, as if they are chasing the school. What they don't know is that if the fishing slows down, just grab a drink as they will be right back.

By 12:02p, we had caught 100 shad. It was 50-50 so we decided to put our rods down and go kiss our sisters. We were done!

That's 100 shad in slightly less than 4 hours. Fun day for sure.

It was still chilly with the slight breeze and 52dF water but we managed (and bitched a lot).

This has been a great March for shad....I believe this is the 1st time we hit 100 in March. Can't wait to see what happens in April.

Lunch was great. Bob had crab cakes and I had something that I didn't order but was still good. It was like a cold Turkey Reuben.

While we had a breeze at times, the winds never came. The sun tried to come out but the clouds won that battle. Once ashore, we were no longer chilly. Did I tell you we bitched a lot? I can't wait for warmer temps!

The only negative for the day was when I went to fill up the Limo. Holy crap....the gas prices have soared in the last few days!

100 shad in March?  You go, guys!  That is awesome.  That boat jockying can be a pain.  Especially with newbies or ijits.  I like Tom's boat!  Makes his dad look even cooler in that shirt.
