When George and I got to the ramp, we were alone. Not one trailer in the lot. Did they know something we didn't know?

The forecast for the morning was iffy with winds picking up later in the day.

We were fishing by 8:30a. It was gloomy and damp with just a whisper of wind. However, we did not have long John's on and you could feel the A/C coming off the water.

The water was dirty (top part) with lots of scum and debris. And it was not moving since there is no flow from the dam.

Water temps were 48-49.7dF.

It took until 9:20a to the the skunk off the boat.



That was down below but I needed to get up top. When we got there, it was like a mine field. Ugly!!

We went back down for a bit and nada, so back up we went. Some of the water had cleared up and we had some clean targets. Around 11:15a, George got his skunk off.



Yes, on a silver spoon (had some red in the back).

He then caught another one but I was snagged and the fish ram over the line and got off. We saw it but it had not jumped. Ernie's Boat Rules clearly state that a shad that jumps out of the water by the boat and so pits the hooks, it's a catch. Kinda like a leader touch. But I felt bad so I gathered the BOD of EBR and came up with a solution. Since I caused the fish to get off, George would be adware a half a catch. He now led 1.5-1!

This protest was NOT initiated by George.

We got a few bites and George caugt a couple more.





It was just a strange day. Very few bites.

I needed to be home as we have family coming in tonight so we pulled the plug at 12:45p and put the boat away.

At Brickmaker's we ran in to Tom J. and they were getting ready to launch. The wind was picking up a little so I gave him some pointers and told him to look for 50dF water, shad's magic number!



Lunch was great, G had the brat and I had a burger. Pics have been posted before so none this time.

When we left, there were almost a dozen boats at the ramp lot. I really think the weather forecasts (which were all over the place yesterday, scared some folks off until they looked outside. Oh, it was in the mid 70's  by now.



Not a great day of catching but a great day of fishing!
