I'm interested, are these heavy gauge hooks or kind of normal gauge?

I don't jig fish a lot but it's something I will probably need to do more to get some cold bass once winter comes around.

Two thoughts here Junger

First is on heavy gauge hooks.  I use a light gauge hook when bass fishing and have got some pigs along with 30+ pound catfish, 50" pike, and over the legal slot 'eyes.  Never had a hook failure.  I avoid very heavy gauges.  Here's a scenario as to why - what's easier to implant into your finger - a needle?  Or a Nail?  The thin gauge needle will penetrate your skin and fingers easier than the nail. 

Heavy gauge hooks are reserved for salt or brackish water - and even then, it's species specific.

Next your idea that jigs are only good for cold water bass.  Sure a jig will work in the winter, but I fish jigs when the water's wet.  During the summer months, bass will swallow a tube and for a c-n-r angler, that's a death sentence to the fish.  But for some reason, they will only mouth a jig and are less likely to swallow them
