Once again (4th time), I will be participating in American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure in Reston on June 5.
I'd like to invite you to donate to the cause. I will do my part as well, by donating some $$ and riding 36 miles in an effort to Stop Diabetes. This is an especially exciting time because you will be helping us celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Tour de Cure!
The Tour de Cure is so much more than an event to me. It's my opportunity to change the future and make a positive impact in the lives of those who are affected by diabetes.
Chances are, you also know someone who has been affected by diabetes and you already know how important it is to stop this disease. Will you help me by donating to this great cause?
By raising funds in the Tour de Cure, you’ll be helping to train school personnel to keep children with diabetes safe at school, provide assistance to individuals who are being discriminated against because of their diabetes, provide support to people who are newly diagnosed with Type II diabetes, and so much more.
Will you make a donation to support my efforts? Please use the links below and thank you in advance for your help!

Inching up on $1k.....
Doing the ride is the easy part.....any dollar you can give is greatly appreciated. This charity has a great record of stewardship.

Next donation takes it over $1.5K! Thanks again to all that have donated.
Have to change my goal again.....

Inching up on $2k now....another generous donation just took it to $1859.20 (the $.20 was part of my brother's donation, he wanted to be different)!

As of today, I am $2.80 short of $2k.....a very nice amount for the organization. So...I raised my goal to $2.5k!
It's been tough to train and get the miles in.....hard to get out in cool and wet weather so relegated to indoor training where I do intervals. Short but sweaty!

Rain, work and travel has kept me off the streets...that's not good when you are trying to get ready for a 35 mile ride. But, we are almost at the $2k mark. Time for another push!

Finally got some miles in....50 over the last 2 days. Yesterday's 28 felt like 50 though. For the 1st 22 miles, I was riding with my rear brake on my wheel. Couldn't understand why I was so sluggish. Today's 22 miler felt like nothing after yesterday's ride.
I am pennies short of $2k in my fundraising. The ride is 9 days away.

I had that same issue with my mountain bike. I was trying to climb and it was a strugggleeeee. then i realized my rear brakes were locked on my wheel.
Hope you meet your goal! you've already raised so much!

Riding with the brakes on gives great resistance work. I know it helped me this go round as I was having a tough time finding the time to ride. Doing the 22 with brakes was like doing 2X that! Yesterday's 35 miler was a breeze....
Finally got over the $2k mark for donations. I really appreciate everyone that donated.

Another TdC on the books....
Raised $2026.20 for the cause.
Rode with my friend Dave Robinson who was the rabbit.
We got a little rain but avoided storms and even visited his grand kids while on the ride (after a 2.5 mile detour).
37.46 miles at 15mph
Total time was 2 hours, 29 minutes and 50 seconds.

Last year, Dave showed up with a hybrid and did not train. You met him last year at Partlow's. Impressive that he finished at all because he suffered for the whole ride but he got respect. He is a great athlete and younger than me. This year, he got a carbon bike and trained. So I led him out on the way out and he was really strong on the way in so he was the rabbit. Finished about 1/2 mile ahead of me. He earned it!
