Lance Armstrong

I remember him at the Tour du Pont race in DC. My oldest son and I attended the race in Arlington and Jon (son) got many autographs when I sent him in to the team tent (they don't kick little kids out). When he came out, he had 5-6 items autographed...all by Lance.  When Lance  was 19, he was good....really good. He won that race and then many others. Little did we know that he would go on to win 7 Tour de France races. Then.....it all consumed him and he cheated. Yes, most of the other racers did too but he took it a step further. What a shame.....bum!

Re: Lance Armstrong

Interesting article about lying. After reading Lances book, I became a big fan. I used to love to watch the Tour, but it has not been the same since it all hit the fan.

To be the top of anything, you are not normal. The drive to get you there can and does cause unethical behavior.

Re: Lance Armstrong

Yep....power begets greed! I was a huge fan as I love the sport anyway. Been watching bike races since the 70's. Used to have a Gitane bike, same as what they rode back in the day (but a cheaper model).

Re: Lance Armstrong

yeah, it's hard to watch the tour since all the cheating came to light.  I used to love riding my de bernardi or borrow my buddies colnago.  I've transitioned to mountain bikes now.  But, I still like to see the teams work together in getting their big rider up front.

Nothing like watching Cavendish rocket out from behind his horses....
