I posted this same message on the Snagged Line forum, so I apologize to those who see it twice.

Anyway, I want to try Cunningham Falls Reservoir for kayak fishing from my Hobie. I know where it is on the map, but I've never been there. I've seen reports about the trout fishing there, but I am not a trout fisherman. I would greatly appreciate any help from others who have fished there for bass regarding launch places, areas, depths, lures, or whatever advice they can offer to make my first trip there worthwhile.

I haven't fished Cunningham Falls yet, but I've fished Rainbow Lake and Owens Creek, which are very close. All I know is, Maryland stocks some big trout.

i fished there once last summer. they have a nice lil dock you can put in and out of. We caught a dozen or so bass, 2# or so. we were throwing into the weedlines. From what i remember, the middle was pretty deep. Our problem was its a smaller lake, so 5-6 boats and you feel cramped.

I have fished it a dozen or so times since it was built. The shallow side has lots of LGMouth under almost every tree in the water. The dam side has both trout and LGMouth. The ticket for the large mouth was power bait worms ( Finesse style with no curl tail ) brown and the least amount of weight possible to cast it. Over on the dam side the rapala was king. I used the sinking type about 4 inches long in silver and also gold. I cast it along the riprap and bounce it off the boulders. Both trout and LGMouth ate it.

One other thing is the bluegill are huge.. they should be bedding soon and will take a Betts popper fly or beadhead fly depending if they want topwater or submerged.
