NOTHING! NADA! Not a Cobia within 100 miles of Oregon Inlet.
Bev Carroll and I went down to the Outer Banks to particiapte in the annual May Cobia tournament.....but it was canceled due to NO Cobia! The water is still too cold. Last year, the peak day for Cobia fishing was May 27.....go figure!
I had hired a guide (Donnie Davis of DOA) so we went out on his 22ft boat and light tackle fished a bunch of bluefish (over 100, both in the ocean and in the sound). Had a blast!
Those teethy monsters (1-3 lbs) bit my line off (30 lbs) a few times but it was excellent fishing nevertheless. Here is Donnie offloading the catch!
We also spent a couple of hours looking for speckled trout but they are too far south yet.
Here are Donnie and I in front of his office!
What a whacky spring but another great day on the water!
