July 3, 2026 Quantico

A little late, but I thought I better post something to prove that I do still get out there!

Went out to quantico since it's local to me and decided to go early with the call of 100 degree weather.  I arrived at 5:45 am and it was very nice although with some winds.  You could almost tell it was going to be a hot day.  I more just enjoyed being out there on a day off from work, so I was appreciating the moment.

There was a lot of topwater activity and some aggressive chases along the grass line as the sun was coming up, so I worked a corner for a long time and had about 5 hits and misses throughout the day.  I had 2 good snakehead hits, but I was using a smaller hook than normal and the gap I feel was on the smaller side....that and just fishing karma!  I did land a nice bass and that's all it took to make my day worthwhile.  I had been working on using my left hand for baitcasting and right hand for spinner.  I purposely forced myself to do this because of tennis elbow I believe it's called.  Anyway, I was off the water by 9 am and cooling off at home by 9:30 ready for the long weekend.

It's not much, but for us working slugs....it was nice to have a 3 day weekend.  6-8 more years before I fully retire!

Enjoy your reports! Wanted to ask if you are using the ramp up by the OCS school or the other one at the other end of the bay?

I love watching the video...the anticipation of that strike. Looks so much like that water Capt. Mike fishes.

Time to go fishin' again!

Yeah, I use the ocs ramp because it's always deep there and no worries of a low tide messing with the path.  It's a little harder to get into with checking into the OOD, but I kinda like that too since it keeps the rifraft out! haha.
