Carl convinced me to make a trip down to the land he used to own near Charlottesville. We were searching for the famed "BB," a giant bass that inhabits one of the ponds on the property. Unfortunately "BB" didn't make an appearance but we did manage to catch a few bass, some HUGE bluegills, and do a little shooting.
I caught a bass on each of my first two casts on a jig and then a few more on a buzzbait. The bluegill came off of worms rigged under bobbers.
Here are some pics of the GIANT bluegills we caught:
Thanks a lot for taking me to that beautiful piece of land, Carl. It truly is a fine paradise. I especially enjoyed the chance to do some shooting. I don't get to do it often but I really do enjoy it.

Dan brought his high tech bass stuff and exibited some fancy casting around the pond. I really expected BB to make an appearance but she did not. We threw some food pellets from the feeder; fish came to feed but no BB. I hope the otter did not catch her. There is also a smaller LMB ( about five pounds) in the same pond; neither came for Dan's offering.
After we caught the makings of a good bluegill dinner, Dan showed me how to knock down spent shotgun casings with a 22 rifle. In the future, I will refer to him as "Dead-eye Dan." I wonder if I can impose on him to come back to The Land and supply me with a Thanksgiving turkey!

I miss that place....my two youngest did their 1st shooting with Carl. Now, the middle one is a pistol instructor.
One of my best memories was fishing the pond on a floating chair and catching fish after fish while in the drink with them!
