Beaverdam Reservoir 10/19

Had a longer post but this website always screws up the browser/internet connection and I have to close.  This time in the middle of posting my message.

Only my 2nd time fishing here.  Fished from my kayak in the area by the church. Caught my first fish there which is also the first crappie I've ever caught.  After nothing was working I went to my old reliable fire tiger crankbait and pulled this one in just a few minutes before I planned to leave.  Must've thought it was a LMB because I don't think the lure wouldn't fit in it's mouth, it caught both treble hooks though.

I'll be back there again tomorrow afternoon and probably the rest of the week.

That's one of the best fish I've seen come out of there.  Good job.  I know you fish it like crazy so it's got to feel good to get some return on the investment.

Q: What did you catch it on and how deep were you?

I've gotten 5 Lbers in there but have never broken 6. There are good fish there but they don't just jump in your boat. This one was caught off a a 16 foot hump with a Norman DD22 crankbait.

Re: Beaverdam Reservoir 10/19

Nothing for me yesterday.  Still trying to find places where the fish congregate.  The reservoir really lacks big structure from what I saw during the drought.  The only significant things I know of are some boulders in maybe 10ft of water in the area of the dock, and the old bridge.  I should've taken a a GPS out there during the drought to mark everything.  All I have is some photos.  Does anyone know the coordinates of the bridge?

There is actually alot of big structure out there-humps, ledges, boulders, roadbeds, you name it. It also has a huge population of big gizzard shad that sit on that offshore stuff for most of the year. Get yourself a sonar an do some exploring, I think you'll be surprised. You can get a cheap portable with a suction-cup transponder like the Eagle Cuda for less than a hundred bucks. The old bridge pilings are straight out from the point by the church. The road bed runs alongside that point and curves to the right beflre it hits the opposite shore. Good luck out there.
