Hidden Valley Lake 5/21/06

Captain:  Brandon S. Royer
Crew:  Dave Royer, Fuzz Royer, Peyton Royer

Caught 36 bluegill.  All very nice size.  A few were redears.  Caught the majority of fish on crickets.  Tried a few other baits, beemoth (waxworms), night crawler, tube jig, but the bigger bluegill wanted crickets.  Average weight from 1/2 pound to almost a 1 pound.  All are now in the freezer waiting for the next fish fry.

Highlight:  The first fish.  The money fish.  Was caught by the captain.

Very nice! Now...let's not be stingy about a location!! After all, it will take Curly and I a day's drive to get there!

Re: Hidden Valley Lake 5/21/06

Location was in about 12 feet of water and anywhere from 4 feet from shore to 15 feet from shore.  Pretty sure they are done spawning and off the beds.  None of the fish I filleted had eggs.  Water temp was about 64 degrees.

You and any of your friends are always welcome.  Matter of fact, it is good for me if you come.  I have to take my wifes uncle fishing.  It is just the right thing to do.
