5-25-06 Cedar Lake evening report

Took the 6wt fly rod out back beween 7:15 and 8:30 PM and was able to find some open water. It seems that the algea mats moved to the other side of the lake. I fished the same general area the whole time (I rarely move around the lake) and caught 3 largemouth bass (biggest was 1 1/4 lbs). I also caught at least a dozen blue gills, most of which were in the 1/2 pound category (only 2-3 little ones).

Two of the bass were caught on a crawfish pattern fly made by Tony Friedrich. Most of the blue gill were caught on a 30 year old bug pattern also made by Tony. A couple of the blue gill were caught on a top water fly....that was cool!

It was great action that was greatly needed!

The top water take is awesome.  I have to get out there soon.
