Randolf Jennings Lake

I am going to fish and camp the potomac north branch and Randolf Jennings lake this weekend, with Mike Bass. The report is that they are catching 3-4lb smallies and walleyes that are just undersize.

Any one have any experience on that lake?

I will have report and pictures when I get back.

Jeff

Jeff,

Get registered at http://blueridgekayakfishing.com and pose the same question. Those guys fish up there a lot. They may even have a post on the subject.

Jeff Little is the one who operates Blue Ridge Kayak Fishing.

Good luck and bring home some pictures!!

Curly,

Did you mix rebels and bucktails?

Re: Randolf Jennings Lake

Randolph Jennings Lake is a beautiful impoundment of the north branch of the Potomac.
It is currently 13ft below conservation level. Low clear water made the fishing tough.
I managed to catch over twenty smallies, but the largest was only 13”. The fish were hitting very light.  It was very difficult to feel the fish when they hit a wacky senko matter of fact most of the time I just noticed hat the line was at a slightly different angle.
I did not catch any fish on fast moving baits.

Oh yeah. Mike Bass has to change his name to Mike “skunked” No Bass smile

The MD state record walleye came out of that lake, but I didn't know how to go about finding them. The lake is over 200ft by the dam.

Re: Randolf Jennings Lake

If I understand this correctly, the impoundment is actually part of the river that has been dammed up?

Re: Randolf Jennings Lake

That is correct Ernie. Evidently there is an old town under there somewhere. The water gets deep fast off the banks. I was six feet away from shore in twenty feet of water in some places, which means there is little to no weeds.

I think the deparment of tourism wrote the fishing report, but I will definitely go back.
