4-29-06, Deep sea fishing out of Aventura FL

We went out of the Turnburry Marina on the New Moon with some colleagues. On board were Hank and Maynard Benjamin along with Dave and Jeff.

We got a late start out of the marina and the pressure was on to catch some fish. Only trouble was that the wind was blowing NE at 25+kts and we had 6-8 ft seas.  That plus the mate (that is a loooooong story) made things very interesting.

Hank, who was the designated good luck charm, immidiately took the skunk off by catching the first dolphin (easy now that’s mahi mahi) but it was less than 3 pounds, small fish. A little while later, another rod went down and it was my turn. I was looking for some pullage but this 3 lb dolphin was a breeze to bring in.

About a 1/2 hour later, we caught another little dolphin.

As we headed home, Hank was reeling in the last line when he felt a title tug. At the end of the line was a king mackerel. Not a big one but we had a king!

It was a great day to be out and I got a chance to smoke a Cuban with Maynard.
