Upper Potomac 11/29/22

I made the trip to White's to try and catch some smallies.  Warming water trend and tolerable weather conditions had me hopeful for that area.  I fished from around 9:30am until 3:30pm.  At least 5 empty trailers in the lot.  Saw these guys at the ramp preparing for Fall survey.

Other boats turned out to be duck hunters.  They were out in force.  I heard them yelling to each other to avoid accidents.

Water was pretty clear and fishing started tough.  I finally got first bite at 11:40am.

This is why I don't like to use the trough.

I finally got something going and found a spot with more than one fish.  This one refused to lie still.  It was a little longer than the first one.

I snagged that lure and then got a wind knot, so tried different lures.  Got one about 12 inches on a jig and then drifted a bit before heading back to the ramp.  I was pumped to catch a final dink on the little jerk bait.  Ended with the 4 fish.  The breeze was pushing me into shore, which made difting a challenge.  Nice day overall.

Ha! Happens to all of us but gives a better indication of size of fish...especially when they are FAT. You just gotta talk to them to calm them down. lol

I once floated by an island and there were two shotguns sticking out of the camouflage. Scared the daylights out of me. A bit too dicey for me.

Pretty nice day to be out and you caught a few. Good deal!

Time to go fishin' again!

Seriously, they need to start making a measuring device like the ones for your feet.  Length and width!  These are double wides!

That is actually a great idea.  My boat camera is just hard to use with one hand.  I have a decent scale now that I can use if I catch a big one.

I had thought about McGyvering something like a tape measure that slides on the measuring stick so you can pull it out and around like a belt to measure girth.  Just a thought, but something that would be cool to use as a data point.
