Fun in the Fog 11/4/22

Got out again this morning and was at the river by 8:30am.  Nice fog and smooth water screamed for topwater.  First cast drifted down and as I gave it a twitch, a nice smallie sharked it!  It fought hard at first, then came in smooth.  It was bigger than the one yesterday and using my rod again, I measured 19.75".

I threw out again and got slurped just before a submerged boulder.  I had it on for a second, but was slow to get the hook in it good and it got off.  A few casts later, I had another big girl shark the popper.  Swing and a miss this time.  Ugh!

After figuring it may be time to switch bait presentations, I tossed the ned out. After a couple casts and letting it drift down slowly, I got a bite.  Nice smallie that put up a great fight.  Not as big and I did not measure.

Bite died off after the sun burned through the fog.  I tried another spot, but no bites.  Done before 11:00am.  Happy camper here.

Same rock?

Is that one of Craig's Megabass knockoff Pop-X lures?

Nice fishies...

Sshhhh.  The popper is a tiny River 2 Sea lure I got a long time ago.  I am catching the topwater fish on the Kuying Topcaster rod that Craig did a review of though.  RIP Craig!
