River Bend 11/3/22

With river levels being so low, I have had to get creative to fill my smallie fix.  I tried fishing from shore at River Bend last week and caught 2 about 11-12 inches, but fat on a ned.  My Highlander is in the shop, so I figured I would try that again today.  I got there about 9:00am.

I decided to try a really small topwater popper first.  I Cast it behind some rocks and let the current slowly take it, giving small pops every once in a while.  As it got to the very back of the eddy, it got slurped.  I set the hook and it felt pretty heavy.  After a nice fight, I dragged it up the shore

I did not have a measuring tape, so I held it against my rod.  It came to the end of the writing on the rod, from the butt.  I just checked that measurement, and it was 19.25".  It felt heavy and had that boney mouth the bigger ones get.   I fished until about 11:30am and got no more bites.  Beautiful morning and a surprise topwater fish in November!
