12-16-21, "O"

Got an invite to fish with Mike today in his new to him 19' Stratos and it was an easy response...YES!

We put in at the "O" around 10:30a...

...and off we went. Outstanding rig!

Mike had some success with jerks, drop shot, neds and blade baits last time he hit the "O" a couple of weeks back.

We hit all the spots he had previous success on...

...but had no luck. It was slow...maybe 1 bite.

He then went to the other side where there is a grass flat and then a drop off and we scored on the blade bait.

Lunch was Italian subs from Santini's...man, they were good. Sorry about the lack of pic.

We hit a bunch of other places but could not get bites. Mike did have one on a blade bait that got off before we saw him and then he scored again.

It was a bit puzzling why the bite was so fickle. Water temps were around 47df all day on an incoming tide (low was at 11a).

As well, we marked a ton of bait most of the day.

While they called for some wind, it did not affect us much except they got  the direction was wrong. It was east at 1st and then towards the end, it switched to SW. But we did take off and put on our jackets a few times. Even though it was over 60df, the E wind across the water felt like an out of control AC!

As we were ending the day, we saw something that I have only seen on TV.

This guy was having a blast until we heard a big splash when he went in the drink for a swim!

We were off the water at 3p.

Great day to be out despite the slow bite. And a big thanks to Mike for the ride. Back a few years ago, we used to do a lot of NHBA tourney in my boat and he would run it from the front while I chilled in the back. Just like today.

Oh...we have a full moon in 2 days. Hmmmm...

Nice report. Putting single hooks on that blade bait is a good idea.

I did this years ago after I sold off all of my hard baits. Once I discovered in line hooks, it was a game changer.
