Anyone going to this?

I'm suppose to help someone lump a ton of pellets into their basement, but the last two times he got lazy
If he gets lazy again, I'll consider going

Anyone ever been to one of these shows? https://flyfishingshow.com/
Lancaster PA is a doable day trip.

These are really big shows. I know lots of folks that exhibit and that attend. I've had plenty of opportunity to attend but never committed.
But I am partial to Tie Fest (hope they have it again).
I've attended the Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival in the past. Like the FlyFishingShow, lots of good stuff but be prepared to spend.

Who is going to the Feb. 5, Dale City Bass Tackle Show at the Hillendale Fire Dept., 13511 Hillendale Drive, Dale City?
It goes form 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. But I would suggest going early.

George and I hit the Dale City show today. But 1st, we had a very filling breakfast at Joe's Cafe in Sterling. It's been a couple of years since I've been there. Great food and great service.
On to the show. We saw a lot of old friends and met some new ones! Lots of good stuff...some deals to be had. If you like crank baits, this was the place to be.
Lots of old stuff, antiques and custom made. They had fewer vendors that in the past and the traffic was certainly not what it used to be.
I only spent $5 on 5 in line spinners.
But since I am always a sucker for raffles, I bought a bunch of tickets! I told Joe, the guy who was running it, that I was feeling good so I bought $25 worth of tickets. The money goes for a good cause (New Horizons Youth Foundation) so I win just by donating.
Anyway, I won the 1st raffle which included a spinning rod and some baits. Also included was a year of launch fees at Lake Anna so I donated that back.
I told Joe that in baseball, you can't go 2 for 2 unless you go 1 for one. Sure enough, they call the next number and I win again. This time a rod/reel combo, a rod (which somehow did not make it home) and some more lures. Plus the launch fee pass which I donated back again.
By the way, some of the lures I won were hand made and painted. Good stuff! I think that my $25 investment paid of at least 10 fold if not more.
So we left. But I left my tickets with Quinn Lipetz and told him to go 3 for 3.
Sure enough, Joe just called me and told me I won again! You gotta play to win but it's always better when the $$ goes to a great cause.
Anyway, we had a great time chatting it up. Kinda gets the juices going to get back out on the water.
We were home before noon.

We were cracking up because Ernie was winning each time. 3 for 3 - what a record.
Didn't spend much but did see some good friends and have allot of laughs. And that breakfast place - I;LL BE BACK!
Ernie got so many rods he started giving them back. I was holding an old Ugly Stix for him and when he tried to grab it to give it away I wouldn't let go. He's like what's up, then the light bulb went on. Want it? Ernie said and I'm like sure. I needed a rod to use for people who don't fish. Hate letting them fish with my customs when they are a rookie. THX Ernie.
Also got another Mitchel 304 - the L reel of the 60s. Another weekend project. And found some senkos with blue in them - great bait up north.
All in all, great day to spend a Saturday morning getting in the mood to fish

The wife thanks you for the Girl Scout cookies.

Must be the GOOD DEED mojo. Not the first time Ernie has cleaned up on raffles. He asked me to pick up some tix at one show while he was attending another. Of course his ticket was called while I went 0 for 25.

Great stuff, guys! Sorry I did not make it this time. Had to avoid the temptation. Congrats on the winnings, Ernie!

Truth be told, many years ago I was at a Southern MD CCA event. I bought a bunch of tickets and was winning a few of the raffles. I kept hearing this deep voiced man saying something like, “go back to VA!”.
That’s when I knew who Bob was.

We talked about your lure “addiction”!
There were soooooo many crankbaits!

I didn't do bad in the bucket raffles that night, but no competition for the master.

Nice haul! Bet people were getting suspicious after the 3rd win haha. I missed the Dale City show this year but did go to the flea market in Fredericksburg a couple weeks ago. I love those tables with the big open tackle boxes, I always find a few gems in there.

They were suspicious from the beginning since I was trash talking that I would win. Luckily, I was not there for the 3rd win. When I left, I gave my tix to a friend’s son. He won.
