7-29-21, Wicomico River

Today was our 4th annual birthday perch trip for Quinn Lipetz.

The forecast looked decent with sunny skies and light winds.

But...we had to stop at the Chaptico Market for sausage and egg sammies. They did not disappoint.

Once out bellies were full, we made it to the ramp and were on the water shortly after 7:30a.

However, the forecast was wrong. It looked a bit ominous but the rain clouds were moving away.

But the wind caused 1' rollers and I was not a happy captain.

We tried some of our known spots and got the skunks off.

But holding the boat was tough so we went in to a cove that I had not fished in at least 20 years.

We did well hiding from the wind. Many doubles and some triples...

Along with catching the 1st fish, I was the multi species king (spot, WP, striper, flounder, red, crab).

But Quinn and John were putting on a clinic!

I was too busy running the boat and trying to catch up to them thus the lack of pics (some just didn't take).

Suffice to say that once the wind settled down, we hit a few open spots and were hammering them.

I was fighting hard to get to 75 while Quinn was in the 140 range...maybe more. John was just shy of 125. We figure that we caught near 350 fish!!

We finished up a little after 1p and we were back at the Market by 2pish!

This was a stuffed ham egg roll!

Their fried chicken is so good...

And this is a So. MD treat, a stuffed ham sammie.

The ride home was good!

Happy 21st birthday Quinn!

Not only pink but his jig (he ties them) was almost bare at the end and he was still catching fish!

Wow that is a ton of fish! I was actually considering heading out to St. Mary's county tomorrow, just watching the wind before I decide where to go. If I go out that way I'm definitely trying the Chaptico market!

Unfortunately, there was no size to the perch. I think we kept 6 eaters. But on UL tackle, they are a blast.
