12/27/08 - ABC...zzzzz Report

I have been out the past couple of days to keep track of things around the lakes. I have seen ice, no ice, a little bit of ice, then no ice. I had seen no fish action until yesterday. I saw Khanh and watched as he brought in a small bass and a crappie. I stayed out for a while, ended up with a big fat zero, but did see a nice 4+ lb LMB in the west end again.

There are two things I notice when the fish activity increases:

1. Increased turtle activity - that has always been a good sign for me
2. Increased bait fish activity - I have seen a lot of fry and minnows hanging tight to the shore in somewhat shallow water

Keep an eye out for this warmer weather because they tend to get active after a couple of days. The water temp rises quickly in smaller bodies of water so I would recommend getting out today, tomorrow, and Tuesday if you can.

Tight lines!
