8-28-20, Chesapeake Beach

Bob and I were on the water just after 7:30a...

...and catchin' before 8a! We 1st hit the jetty on the inside and Bob took the skunk off 1st!

Nothing else.

We went outside and we got some bites.

Then I got my skunk off but for some stupid reason, I threw it back, We always get a pic of the the 1st fish and this one was nice at 10.5"!

A few minutes late, I landed a nice 11.25"er which helped me for the contest.

Later, we would be throwing back anything under 11.5"s and we threw back many, many between 10-11.25'! More on the later.

The jetty stopped producing so I took us to the glass house, one of Mo's favorite places...at times.

This was one of those times.

One of the 1st bites was a red!

And then we caught a bunch of quality fish including two 11.5"ers for me!

With these two perch, I now took the lead in the SRRKC WP tourney with 3 WP at 11.5"s each = 34.5"!

Also caught a small striper here...

We had a good morning at this spot but it was time to move on to greener pastures.

Next stop was outside of the Spanish house and we picked up a few fatsos but nothing for the board so we moved in.

We caught some quality fish but it was not producing.

I did get a little flounder!

The tide was not really moving and it was flat calm. Very little wind and HOT!

We decided to go out to Ernie's Hole which was named by Carl Brown several years back. It's an area where 7' meets 4' and produces. And it did for us but we were drifting and got off the bite and we never found it again. i forgot to spot lock...this one was on me.

Bob did get a spot!

It was now close to noon and the heat was bearing down so we needed some A/C. We got it by moving. We were going back to the glass house. But before getting there, I decided to stop in front of some older cottages. Don't ask me why, but I did.

It did not take long for us to realize a few things:

1. We should have brought a cooler to keep some fish.
2. No fish under 9" lived here
3. Bob caught two 11.5"ers  (his pics look just like mine) which put him back in the lead with a total of 35"!
4. Don't ever leave fish to stop at a few other places before you go home. Leave it all here!

This last "hole" produced quality perch like the trip that Bob, Curly and I had at the wall (Severn) a few years back. I think these were better. Quality fish after quality fish. We never found a 12"er but we will be back.

Great day to be perch fishing!

Time to go fishin' again!

Another great time with Ernie. It's fun competing and cheering on your competitor at the same time. That last spot was almost magical, I hope they live there full time, it would be great to add a reliable spot to Ernie's bag of tricks. I'm sure we'll find out next time
