Baseball

This was Opening Day week.  The start of it all (along with the shad).

In the spring, as long as I can remember, I get the special spring feeling that baseball is in the air. It's like the start of life. But not this year...at least not in the immediate future.

It's hard to watch old film because you usually know what gonna happen. Thus, not as exiting.

Baseball nuts like me see baseball as exiting. Opposite of that, I find football kinda boring. I know it's weird but I have baseball in my Cuban blood.

I'm going to start looking for blue gills.

Re: Baseball

Baseball is exciting.

It was once the centre of community.
A gathering ritual
Think of the conversations amongst patrons in the 'old' parks.
The game you went to watch was the car to the human element.

News, opinions, feelings
Ideas
Local and national political sentiment
Forged and tempered

Bob and fp visiting like an old married couple while the contest trudges on.

These things are dear to me, too.

the world series
Every kid with a bat, ball. And glove
Has played

Re: Baseball

Good stuff Jeff....

One of the coolest things you could ever see is 2 Cubans going at it about baseball on Calle Ocho in Miami. They may be discussing old timers but the argument would be heated. Non Cubans walking by might even get scared but once the "discussion" was over, they would get a cafesito and sit down to play dominos. No hard feeling just life back to normal.

For me, not watching, hearing baseball leave a big void.
