Beaverdam Res 6/9/20

Got out this morning and fished from 6am - 10am. No bites for the first hour then hooked up back to back with 2 nice LMB on texas rig worm .... both broke off at the boat. Then found a smallie in a rocky area on crank bait ..... nice fish and good fight.

Good job finding them!  Too bad about the break-offs.  Line or knot failure?

I switched to 6lb flouro and didn't adjust the drag on the first one ..... and bad knot on the second.

Nice work!

I'll tag  my report along since we were out there just after Ryan.

Bob and I put in at Mt. Hope...

...but hit the other side. We were fishing by 7:30a.

It was slow going with just a couple blue gill bites between us.

Great cover and scenery!

I was fishing a point with lots of cover when something picked up my bait and started running. World record bass? Or a darn carp?

Anyway, he entangled me in a bunch of brush and broke off my 8 lb leader. Great rush!

A few minutes later, Bob yells out that he has one on. I tell him to take a pic but his phone got goofy so I raced over.

That was at 9:51a.

We split up and fished some more. I did not get any more bites. Bob said he caught another little one.

We fished 4-10' of water and I ventured deeper for a bit.

An almost full moon did not help...me at least.

We went back over to the east side and fished a bit but it was getting hot and there was no wind!

Off the water at noon!

This was my 1st time using the Trailblazer vs the truck to transport the 14' yak. It was a PIA at 1st but once I got my routine down, transporting was easy (using Bob's bed extender gizmo).

Paul then texted me and said he suspects the fish have moved deeper. My water temp read 80df+!

BTW, I have caught a smallie in the res before...just can't remember when nor find the pic.

Nice job with that smallie! Y'all were on the water and caught fish. That's a good day!

Together we'll fight the long defeat.

Good job getting out there.  Definitely more work than your sled.  Too bad you didn't see what broke you off.

I saw it some...looked like a log. That moved like a fish.

Light lines will be broken lines and lost lures with all the stuff that can be snagged now.

Re: Beaverdam Res 6/9/20

I lost a rare crankbait in a tree on 10 pound braid.  I could not get it loose and did not have a net or lure retriever to break it free.  I will go back again with better supplies.

Definitely have to fish with more heavy cover approach in many areas with all the flooded trees and brush.

They’re not very common, but they are in there. 5 years ago I caught 2 in 3 casts. Was lucky to capture it on video.
