I went out to enjoy a short stogie and took the rod that George made me.
Started with an older (small) Rebel Fastrac since a couple of buddies had been catching some on small cranks. Nothing.
Changed to a jerk bait. Nothing.
Then I dug deep in my pocket and found a 5' ribbed purple worm with a blue curly tail. It was on a 1/16th (maybe smaller) ned head.
I felt the bump and set the hook on a nice 14-15"er!
Right before I cast I noticed the line had some chafing on it. Ah, who cares...I am only out here enjoying the stogie. When I lifted the fish, the line broke!
He gave me a nice tussle on the ML rod.
Oh...it was chilly!

That's the way to do it! I need a pond behind my house...

Well...I know a few that are close. No permission needed (but you have to tell them you are my guest if asked but that rarely happens).

I will take you up on that soon. Need to get granddaughters out. I love to fish for panfish too.

Looks like that may not be allowed. Ugh.

Went out and did a Curly! Fished in 20-30mph wind.
I could hardly feel the line but I did feel the bite! Caught a nice one (15" or so) on a old Bass Assassin green over white (specs) swim bait on a belly weighted swim hook.
Felt good.
Went to take a pic and realized that I did not have my phone.

Cool!

Sweet! Wind here has been unforgiving to get out in a boat since Wednesday and thru Friday. Here is the lake this afternoon, but the pic does not do it justice with the raging white caps.
Blowing 20-30 here now.
