John Lipetz and I were on the water just before 11a (I love winter hours).

We put in at Lander and the goal was to fish some deep holes (8-11').

But before we did that, we worked another area of shallower water. It was very fishy looking...

...but after an hour without a bite, we went to our target area.

Not another person in sight. Just eagles and turkeys!

John said he was going to win big stick of the day but I connected with this one...

The lack of bites had us giddy.

Finally, around 1p, John connected with this very fat 15" walleye!

The skunk is off!

A few minutes later, I saw a fish come up and eat a bug (there was a major hatch going on) which startled me. At the same time, I got hit by this nice 13.75" smallie!

Now we both had our skunks off so we decided to eat lunch.

Other than being  a nice guy, John always brings a great lunch. Today's sammie was outstanding!

Ham and Havarti PILED up on home made rye bread from  Best Buns Bakery. Man, it was good!

We went back to fishing, tried a lot of places, threw a bunch of lures but no more hits. Water temps started off around 41df and finished out at 43df.

We were off the water by 4.

A good day out but our beloved 'mac River is hurting for sure.

Fish on, skunk off, good day! That sandwich sounds so good!

Water looks pretty clear.  Still trying to finish my boat.  Getting close, but the gluing part has me skittish.
