That huge east coast storm rolled thru on Thursday night. Woke me up from my sleep when I heard the freight train rumbling through. It was not a freight train.
Anyway, it was cold (42) on Saturday morning when we started at 10a. The high was forecast at 51 with just a little wind.
The Capt. was Trey Smith who is a good friend.
He married our babysitter! Remley the mate came along as well.
The run to the fishing spots was cold for sure!
But it was nice and sunny out...
...1st fish came quickly (1st drift), caught on a DOA minnow (1/8oz).
I was happy to get the skunk off!
Then...no more bites so we resorted to bull minnows on a shallow wreck. Trey managed a rat red but he tossed it back before I could get a shot. He did not like the size.
The mate on the lookout!
We got no more bites after that. And we talked to a couple of other fellas and they were skunked.
That's not a cloud...it's a good smoke!
The high pressure, cold temps, dirty water yada, yada, yada did us in! Still, it was nice to be out and we had a nice dinner at Trey and Becky's. Picana, fried quail, potatoes and asparagus. Don't know why I didn't take any pics...
The next night we went to the Obstinate Daughter and it was spectacular. Here are two of the dishes:
Grilled Tile fish over bok choy and yams
Short Rib Gnocchi
One afternoon we grabbed a drink at the VFW beer hall which is right on the water.
