Feb 5 - Bass and Crappie

Left Lexington, VA at 8am and 58 degrees and got home at 11am and 39 degrees sad .  Took a crappie rod and a bass rod with me to the ponds..  Hit the ABCs with the bass rod and only one 12" fish for my efforts next door to Ernie''s house.

Went back to the truck, drove over to the Big A lake and took out the crappie rod.  Crappie on the first cast.  Got lucky right off the bat and had found a school of white and black crappie in an area the size of 2 king beds in 4-5 FOW.  Ended up with 19 crappie in about 15 minutes.  I was determined to get #20 and it took another hour to find it.  Most all the crappie were 10-11" and very thick shouldered.  Here is a white crappie pic and black crappie pic, so you can see the difference.

Rains in the next 2 days should trash crappie fishing for a while
