Hit the ABC lakes around 9:30 this morning. Started at Cedar and an hour of tossing a P&J was just ignored by any bass. Moved down to Beech and worked my way around to the dam. Made a cast parallel to the rip rap. As I was bouncing the jig back, saw my line start to move towards deeper water. Set the hook and there was that great sound of drag squealing off the reel. Got her to shore in about 3 minutes or so. Just short of 20" and around 4.5 lbs.
The bass had some of those black patches common to some Potomac River bass. Really pretty colored fish
30 more minutes at Beech an an hour at Alder was unproductive.........maybe I'll go crappie fishing this afternoon. It's 67 degrees now at 1:30!

I try to schedule doc appointments in the winter...and today we get spring while I’m getting checked out. Argh!!

Nice pig
Fear the dreaded black spot

Could be a descendant of a Potomac fish. Rumor is that some guys brought a few in many years ago.

Great fish! I caught a big pig in the DC section that had those splotches and it was a fighter!

Nice! A while I caught a bass with black spots also in Beech. I wonder how many fishes have those markings in the ABC lakes
