The year 2020

This year I plan to do a full week of shad fishing followed by a good meal for Captain and crew... The weekdays of April 20th thru 23rd are still open. 24th is booked now.

On May 5th I will retire from my job and open up three more days/evenings of fishing . Monday and Tuesday are no fishing.
That's right right folks full time guiding after 28 years of weekends only.

Right now crappie is almost booked up. We have about 4 dates opens between me and Capt Dave.

Main river bass fishing or as like to call it "Bubba" trips will open this year in May weekdays only. I have always wanted to be able to do those trips again.
June thru August will be evening trips for snakehead and bass.

Monster catfish in the early spring and fall.

Looking forward to the next phase of life.

Thanks
Capt Mike

Re: The year 2020

Bubba trips start in the morning and we hit about 12 to 20 spots on the main river. Use all kinds of methods from C-rig to rattle traps to jigs and cranks.

We will cover lots of river and fish historical fishing spots. A run and gun method and a full day of fishing.

Boat can handle three fisherman for that trip. Best with two but three works.

Targetting pre-spawn bass right, is there a good chance at a 6lb+ largie? My PB is just under 5lbs and I'm ready to break it!

Re: The year 2020

The truly big bass that spawn tend it do it in the emerging spatterdock. However main river bass can be rather large and plentiful. Lots of 3lb bass caught on gravel flats and rock points in May. The number of fish caught can be very high as they stage to move back to shallow water.

Have had in years past 40 plus fish days.

Re: The year 2020

Congratulations on retiring from the DC rat race - this week I decided to retire 4 months earlier than planned so that's always a good decision for mind, body and health

Good luck with guiding full-time

Re: The year 2020

Bubba trips are 325.00 for two and you can add a third for 25.00 more. With all the casting and running three persons is my max. We will cover a lot of water and use techniques like cranks / Carolina rigs / Texas rigs / Jigs / Tokyo rigs and spinnerbaits. Most likely no topwater till mid June.
The season for these trips will be May thru August , Wed, Thurs, Friday only. Way too much traffic on a weekend. Early morning till when ever.
