9-30-19, Weems Creek

Bob and I met up at the end of Tucker St. in Annapolis so we could splash our yaks in search of some Moby perch.

It was an overcast morning, around 72df when we put in.

Our plan was to work our way to the mouth of the creek and then head up river to Martin's Pond. We both caught fish on the way as we stopped at almost every fishy looking place.

I was just to make the corner turn when Bob came back and said the wind was too pushy. We could certainly make it to the pond (@ 2 miles) but the way back would have been a little sporty.

Yes, an EAST wind was in play.

So, we stayed in Weems and caught fish...many fish!

Bob had a great day. He caught many perch. His two biggest were 10.5" and 11.75" but they did not help him move up in the SRRKC tourney.

He also caught a couple of stripers with the biggest just short of legal. As well, he caught a total of 8 pickles up to 17" and a little spot.

Interestingly, all I caught were perch. A bunch of them but I could not stretch any to 10".

We caught perch almost everywhere we threw a lure. Sometimes 1 or 2 fish but sometimes 8-12 perch (in 4-5 different holes).

Around 10a, the wind died down and we contemplated heading to Martin's. I decided to wait a few minutes before agreeing and the wind picked back up. Thirty minutes later, it was virtually dead calm.

We never headed to Martin's and just stayed in Weems for the rest of our time.

I think we got off the water around 12:30p.

We did get sprinkled on but not enough to get us wet.

Usually, the end of September marks the end of shallow water perch fishing but i think they will  be here for a bit, at least until a strong cold front move sin.

Yep...Bob was happy about that. Yet he likes the slimy (and stinky) pickles!

Happy to report,,, the results are in, and I had enough to cover both divisions. The 3 12" perch I got on Aug. 3rd held up through the end. Attended my first SRRKC meeting and walked out with all the loot. What's next?

Oh, and the pickerel stink, ask Ernie

Is there a tourney sheet somewhere? Did I even place?

Rodney says he still plans on posting a leader board as soon as his computer guy can get the software to run. I texted him to see if I should show up at the meeting,  and after he looked through the FB posts, he texted back confirming I had both prizes.
